There may be a slowdown around the corner !!!
All the signs are there for a slowdown in the economy. Several interest rate rise. The start of repossions and profit warnings on a number of Companies. Of course we get wonderful results from a number number of retailers, supermarkets and banks, but wait a minute have a lokk a small business . They tend to feel the pinch first and generally do not have the resources to push on regardless. The travel business is feeling the pinch and just walk around the garden centres . They are just not busy when they should be heaving.
The cost of money on credit cards and the Banks v Customers is just a sign that the Banks are flexing their muscle !!
I have been around long enough to have tough times in 1973, 1980, 1989/90 and the signs point to slowdown. Batten down the hatches I say. Make sure the business is lean and customer service a priority. Work hard and keep an eye on costs.
The China stockmarket is going through the roof , it cannot last although the Chinese Government has set up a fund of 100billion to invest in the UK. Hey they mean business.
It will be a long summer , enjoy it.
